Here is an excerpt from the one-man play "On the Rooftop with Bill Sears." The play is based on the life of Mr. William Sears (1911-1992), especially his book "God Loves Laughter." In this segment, Bill (Mark Perry) recounts the story of the Great Disappointment of 1844, when people went out onto their rooftops expecting the imminent, literal fulfillment of biblical prophecies.
